Aurora Prize for Awakening Humanity 

Type of project: The Aurora Prize for Awakening Humanity honours humanitarians who go to extreme lengths to save the lives of others, including those fighting the global outbreak of Covid-19. A special nomination form is available to nominate an individual or a group of people for their exemplary response to the Covid-19 pandemic in any professional or personal capacity.


Criteria:

COURAGE

The extent to which the Nominee’s actions demonstrate:

  • Risking his or her own life, health or freedom for the sake of helping others survive threats to their lives, health or freedom
  • Going beyond the call of duty of professional obligations for the sake of helping others survive such threats

COMMITMENT

The extent to which the Nominee’s actions demonstrate:

  • An explicit intention to help others survive threats to their lives, health or freedom
  • A direct involvement in helping others survive such threats
  • Being motivated by altruistic intentions

IMPACT

The extent to which the Nominee’s actions demonstrate:

  • Directly saving the lives, health or freedom of a significant number of individuals
  • Having an impact on saving lives, health or freedom in the Nominee’s community, country or globally, including in the longer term

Location: Worldwide Eligibility: Individuals or groups of individuals can be nominated 
Award: $1m shared between laureates.
